Juan Antonio Carrillo Jiménez was born in Granada (1983). He holds a Diploma in Education Sciences from the University of Granada and a Master's Degree in Advanced Theatre Studies, specialising in Theatre Direction from the International University of La Rioja. In addition to being a theatre director, puppeteer, researcher and theatre educator specialising in puppetry and theatre for children, he combines his work as a cultural manager in the public administration.

For twenty years he has founded and directed Bambino Teatro, a company dedicated to the creation, production and research of theatre for children and young people, using the techniques of puppet theatre, actor's theatre and oral narration, taking part in numerous important festivals in Andalusia and Madrid, among others. It is currently carrying out the "Teatro de Cachiporra Andaluz", a stage project for the recovery of the puppet theatre of Federico García Lorca aimed at children and family audiences.

He teaches children and young people in different theatre classrooms with the conviction that children's theatre is both fun and educational, through dramatic expression.

He participates as artistic director in the annual Encuentro de Teatro para la Infancia y la Juventud of the municipality of Churriana de la Vega (Granada).

She has been responsible for the Vocalía de Premios and member of the Board of Directors of Assitej-España from 2016 to 2019.

He is a member of GECA (Gestores Culturales de Andalucía), ASSITEJ-España (Asociación Artes Escénicas para niños y niñas), UNIMA Andalucía (Unión Internacional de la Marioneta) and a Founding Member of the Academia de las Artes Escénicas de Andalucía.

He is the author of the book "The dramaturgy of the puppet by Federico García Lorca".The work is a research on puppetry, on Lorca's poetics, his dramaturgical strategies and his profound knowledge of the structures, edges and mechanisms of the dramatic text and theatricality. It is published by Apuleyo Ediciones and was presented at the Festival Internacional de Títeres y Objetos "El Rinconcillo de Cristobica" in Valderrubio (Granada) in 2022.
