Since 2025 our entity decided to change the name to Luis Matilla Award for Theatre for Children and Young People in recognition of the invaluable work in defence of the children's and young people's public that the author carried out throughout his life.
SSITEJ Spain periodically announces this award with the aim of promoting quality theatre that contributes to the development of a diverse, contemporary repertoire committed to children and young people.
Authors of any nationality may participate with original plays written in Spanish or in any of the co-official languages of the Spanish State (provided that they are accompanied by their corresponding translation into Spanish). The plays must be aimed at children's or young audiences, and must be adapted to the theatrical genre. The theme, structure and number of characters are completely free. Texts that have already been published, won prizes or are in the process of being published will not be accepted. Co-authored works are accepted.
