Lambayeque Region, Peru. María and Eli live in a cotton field: there they work and suffer the presence of their boss. Meanwhile, they nurture dreams of the future. Eli's, of reaching the sea and, from there, traveling to Europe; María's, of learning mathematics. The Sowing of Numbers is the story of these two girls, the story of the sowing of their dreams, which in Nieves Rodríguez Rodríguez's play, takes the form and perfection of numbers. It is the story of two paths that cross, and also of how friendship transforms their trajectories: the story of two girls who dream beyond the cotton that surrounds them.

The Sowing of Numbers is the winning text of the 29th Navarra School of Theatre Text Competition for Children. It is the third installment of the Friendship Trilogy, preceded by Seeds Under the Nails (INAEM's 4th Grant for the Development of Contemporary Playwriting in 2015) and What Comes Home (and Other Trees) (SGAE Children's Theatre Award 2017). A song of hope for girls that, like the cotton in this story, caresses as it scratches.
